Notes on "Jim Croce - Home
Recordings: Americana," 2003 (Scott Ericson)
Notes: Not a "pop" album like Jim's best known
works, this CD goes back to Jim's early days and his folk
influences and roots. As the title implies, the songs
really are home recordings, thus not in "studio quality"
sound. While that takes a little getting used to at
first, you'll soon forget about the sonic dimension and
become immersed in the quality and inspired sound of the
works themselves, gaining further insight into the talent
and abilities of this pop icon at this early stage of his
career. The liner notes by Jim's son A.J. will inform
you of the significance of the song choices, and notes by
his Wife Ingrid outline the folk roots that led to his later
pop career. A truly fascinating look and listen into a
talent that had far more depth than a few pop hits on the
radio. - Scott Ericson
