• Thank You for considering becoming a supporting member of, or upgrading your membership to Music Sojourn!  Nobody is making a big salary from the MusicSojourn website. And you may have noticed that we did not run an ad during last year's superbowl. We have, for over 3 years now, run the website as cost-effectively as we can, but we do have to pay many bills: Royalty and Licensing fees to the representatives of the record labels and artists, disk space (over 300 GB so far), web hosting and streaming, web site tools and development help, audio production gear, etc., and yes even taxes.
       

• Your membership will allow us to continue to operate, build and improve this site!   We really mean this.  You may not know that we came very close to closing the Music Sojourn site down at the end of 2000.  And we still have debt from launching and building Music Sojourn that we are paying off.  If we had obtained "venture capital" or other risky financing, we most probably would have been forced to shut down because of factors like the sharp decline  in banner and sponsor revenues (over 90% drop).  Two factors have allowed us to continue: 1.) We are finding ways to reduce the costs for hosting and streaming, and 2.) new options, like this one, for allowing direct financial support from dedicated listeners who choose to become members.   
       

• As we said, you can support us with a membership contribution of any amount of your choosing.  When determining Which Member Level to join at, consider that you have 24x7, anytime-you-want-it access to the programs that you enjoy hearing. So you won't get upset, after joining, because we move the program to a time that you can't easily hear it!   NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL, but we recommend a periodic (Annual or Bi-Annual) payment of $45.00, or more if you can.  If you would like to increase your membership level monthly, consider a plan of $5.00 to $15.00 if you are able.  Don't Confuse us with public radio even though we have programming as good or better!  We may be similar to a Public Radio station only in the diversity of music and features (click here for more detailed info). We are NOT a non-profit, tax exempt organization, so your membership will not be tax deductable. If that is a concern to you for tax reasons, please don't let that stop you - simply become a member at about 20% less than you would contribute to a non-profit organization and the net result for you will be about the same (if you itemize tax deductions). At this time, we operate on only a small fraction of the budget levels of most "non-profit" Public Radio stations, and certainly far less than any commercial station.
       
  NOTE About Amazon Membership Contributions: EACH payment is limited to $50.00 by Amazon, but you can pay higher amounts if you are able by making more than one payment.  We have limited the lowest payment amount to $4.00 because we lose a greater percentage of your membership below that amount.  You can make higher payment amounts via PayPal, or, of course, by Direct Check or Credit Card.
       

• As always, your credit card is secure and your privacy is protected at Amazon.com and via PayPal.  If you are wondering why we are using Amazon or PayPal to collect payments instead of doing it ourselves right now, there are a number of reasons, but they all summarize to this:  For our relatively small size, it would cost us as much, or more to set up our own credit card authorization accounts and related infrastructure than the fee that these providers charge us to participate in their program.  Plus, we can use all the extra time that we won't be wasting on those issues to develop more programs and streams.
       

• What about all of those AD banners that you run?  They never did come close to covering even costs, and as we said above, revenue from those has dropped over 90% from a year ago.  We have eliminated all but one ad vendor (Burst) so banners or links that you see for places like CDnow or Amazon are all affiliate programs (we don't get paid for the banner, only if you click through and make a purchase).  We are replacing even more low-yield ad banners for promotion of this membership plan.  Over the long run, it is in our best interests to remain affiliated with a high quality agency like Burst, so we will retain some banners now, but the more direct membership support we receive, the more ad banners we will remove!
       

• Your membership at any level that you choose will allow us to continue to operate, build and improve the site!

• PRIVACY:  When you send us information by Direct Check or Credit Card, we will NEVER give your Name, Address, or Credit info to ANY other organization for any reason (with the obvious exception of those who process our credit transactions, for that purpose only).  This policy also means that we will not give your info to any affiliate producers of programs or content offered on the site.  Click here to see the Privacy Policy for the web site.

• If you Don't Want To Use a Credit Card over the internet, or want to help us avoid expensive transaction fees, you are also welcome to make Membership Contributions by Check or Money Order by mail, payable to: MusicSojourn.com, PO Box 509, Gibsonia, PA 15044.  Please print and include this form to indicate which programs, features or streams you are supporting (and to supply credit card info if using one).  Your payment by check or money order, while not as convenient, allows us to apply 100% of your membership contribution toward our efforts (by credit card, up to  approximately 16% of your membership goes toward processing costs)!   Note about DIRECT Credit Card (by mail) transactions, our credit transactions are currently being provided by another merchant as a service to us, so they will have a different name on your statement.  We will send you that information when you join so that there is no confusion.
