1st Program:
Terminal Sunglasses

In this 9 December 2007 episode, we meet drummer George Agassi of Montreal’s Terminal Sunglasses. This avant-punk band put out its own LP over twenty years ago and it still sounds fresh, fun and feisty.  Terminal Sunglasses was compiled on Vol. 4 of the Shielded by Death  compilation and stands out in that collection for its originality.

Mudville - Iris Nova

Sepand Samzadeh is one half of the duo behind Days Between Stations. In this 25 November 2007 interview, we hear from him about the group’s self-titled album, which was four years in the undertaking. The album is a rich and wondrous world of material much like Dark Side of the Moon-era Pink Floyd.

Martin Atkins - Made in China

In this 11 November 2007 interview we talk to Martin Atkins of his time with Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Pigface, and more. But, what is really exciting is the mother lode of punk and no wave throwback music found by him on a business trip to China and compiled onto Look Directly Into the Sun: China Pop 2007. We also here stories from Martin of working with traditional Chinese musicians in China, an event that was documented and produced an album: Made in China by Martin Atkin's China Dub Soundsystem.

Machine Head - Burning Red

Unexpectedly unearthed from deep in the Outsight Radio Hours archives, this July 1 1999 interview with Machine Head bassist Adam Duce is one of the very first ever telephone interviews does on the show and also dates back to the very earliest days of Internet radio in general. Alisson Chesley - Helen Money

Alison Chesley has played cello on many recordings that came out of Chicago, including Poi Dog Pondering, Archer Prewitt, and many more including many from Steve Albini’s studio. In this 4 November 2007 interview we talk about this and how an encounter with Bob Mould conjured up from within her the alter ego of a cello aggravator: “Helen Money”.

Jon Larsen - Strange News From Mars

In this 28 October 2007 interview we meet jazz guitarist Jon Larsen of Hot Club of Norway and Hot Club records. Call it “jungle music” and not “gypsy jazz” and Larsen explains why in this interview. He also invites us into the Zappa alumni world in regards his first album with Arthur Barrow, Jimmy Carl Black, Tommy Mars and more. It is called “Strange News from Mars” and is the first or a projected trio using Zappa musicians.

In this 21 October 2007 interview, drummer extraordinaire Pat Mastelotto talks about his current project Tuner, as well as looking back to the King Crimson double trio days and working with XTC brown bagging it in the studio for Oranges & Lemons.

In this 14 October 2007 interview, guitarist / vocalist André Cholmondeley tells us how an annual 24-hour party on Frank Zappa’s birthday became the FZ tribute band Project/Object. Typically working with Zappa alumni, this time around Cholmondeley is working with Napoleon Murphy Brock and we hear of this offers a direct link to Zappa’s original intentions.

 
11th Program:
Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum

Dickie Peterson - Blue Cheer     [Use MEMBER's Player]

In this 7 October 2007 interview, bassist/vocalist Dickie Peterson recalls the formation of Blue Cheer in the late ‘60s and of the support now received by the die hard power trio from the stalwarts fans of The Blue Cheer Preservation Society. Dickie also gives us an overview of how simplicity and rock-n-roll fit together like hand and glove.

Frank Zappa - Overnite Sensation

Bob Harris - Axe     [Use MEMBER's Player]

ORH interviewed Bob Harris 30 September 2007. Bob Harris played with Zappa, Warren Zevon, ANT-BEE and Steve Vai. All that is touched on, including Harris˘ involvement with the Thing-Fish and Them or Us albums as well as producing his own soon-to-be-reissued opus, The Great Nostalgia. We also explore his hard rock involvement, including Edge of Forever and resurrecting Axe.
