Cottonmouth Texas - After several years, it was nice to
catch up with spoken word/deep dub artist Cottonmouth,
Texas (Jeff Liles). Cottonmouth, Texas is Jeff's spoken
word project that is musically driven by hip-hop beats.
We speak of his early releases and major label (Virgin)
involvement, which was when I first encountered him. Not
only does he bring us up to the reissue of Anti-Social
Butterfly, but Jeff makes a cogent, if summary, analysis
of the state of the music industry.

Traciana Graves - In
this 30 April 2007 interview we meet Traciana
Graves. Born in Harlem, U.S.A. she was largely
raised in France when the career of her model mother
took the family abroad. It is in France where Traciana
became immersed in the arts and music. She taught
herself to become a guitarist, studied at the Sorbonne
and became the first American accepted into the
prestigious National Acting Conservatory in France. This
foundation lead her to become a sought after background
singer for the likes of Celine Dion, Steel Pulse,
Youssou N' Dour, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others. We hear
how this background has affected her album Tales of A
Prodigal Daughter as well as her efforts to inspire
others through lectures, workshops and one-on-one
coaching
sessions with such topics as "Embracing Multiculturalism
And Diversity".

Random Touch - This 8 April 2007 chat with Random Touch's
Christopher Brown was the culmination of a great musical
discovery, for me. The 2-CD album from the group on Token
Boy Records is the type of progressive space music
headphones were made for. Listen in for an overview of the
group's long career and found why it has recorded so little
and its artistic connection to early surrealist readymades
and other visual arts

The Ego Plum Orchestra - In this April Fool's Day 2000
conversation meet Ego Plum who is updating goth tones in The
Ebola Music Orchestra. David J (Bauhaus * Love & Rockets),
with whom Ego has collaborated says of Ego Plum, "Nino Rota,
Raymond Scott and Salvador Dali RUN away to join the circus
which turns out to be run by a legless mute ringmaster who
walks on his hands, juggles with flaming whips and cues the
clowns via telepathy. Ego Plum is a musical genius."

Larval - This 18 March 2007 interview with
Bill Brovold
explores the fluid nature of the group's definition over
time and the protean nature of its organic sound. This
interview just followed release of the 2-CD set Surviving
Death / Alive Why? (Cuneiform Rune 248 / 249). The creative
principal behind the walls-of-sound approach is guitarist,
composer, producer, and visual artist Bill Brovold. Larval’s
fifth release is a studio recording, Surviving Death, and a
live CD, Alive Why?. Disc 1: Surviving Death is
Larval’s
newest studio recording, is one of the most diverse Larval
CD to date. Disc 2: Alive Why?, documents
Larval’s
legendary live show. The CD contains live recordings
made between 1999 and 2006 at four different concerts,
including a 2006 gig at the Ferndale, Michigan club, Xhedos;
a 2002 show at Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown Concert House; and
concerts in 1999 and 2001 at Cleveland, Ohio’s Beachland
Ballroom. It features performances by
Brovold,
Gregg Courtney, and Toby Summerfield on guitar; Thor
Brovold, James Ilgenfritz III, and Alfred Turner on bass;

“One-Man Brill Building”: writing, performing &
producing his own compositions. Included in this

Your People” & “Go For Yourself”, as well as ultra-rare
“Skunkie”, the title track “One More Day” as well as a
