Joshua
Gabriel speaks from
a moving car on Feb. 6, '05 about moving his music toward
guitar-based rock, why numeric figures appear in his early
drawings, why those drawing are so obsessive and how all
this talk about Naomi Campbell got started. The album from
Gabriel
this interview focuses on his the third, self-titled
release from this driven marker artist and music maker.
-
Gadget - DJ and founder of the Function 8 label
-
Margaret
Garrett (Guitar,
Vocals) is one half of the duo blues-punk duo
Mr.
Airplane Man. Here she talks on the phone amicably
about how Howlin' Wolf is such an influence on the group,
the Boston scene and their latest album Moanin' recorded
with Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit and mixed
by Greg Cartwright (Oblivians). Unfortunately, one-half of
the interview is lost due to technical difficulties, but
this is still a candid introduction to one rooted rocker
chick.
-
GBH -
Colin Abrahall of GBH talks to Outsight from a
parking lot during a US tour in this 10 July 2005
interview. A quarter century of punk rock has made Colin
a gentleman with sensitive views, oddly enough.
-
Scott Giampino, drummer for Cash Audio and Touch &
Go/Quarterstick Records publicist
-
Melvin
Gibbs'
resume is all over the genre map for the 80s and '90s in
both jazz and rock. Then Berklee College of Music graduate

the Rollins Band. He is now active in the experimental
rock band Harriet Tubman and many other projects. Here,

Re-Groove (Magna Carta), an instrumental funk-rock album
of music from Parliament and Funkadelic.

Martin
Gordon (# 3) -
Martin Gordon shows the elite of a few by making a
third time appearance on Outsight Radio Hours
in this 6 August 2006 interview. We talk about his
ambitious THE MAMMAL TRILOGY Box Set (now available) and
the single-CD retrospective HOW AM I DOING SO FAR? This
was released May 2006. “If God really is on his
lunchbreak, he has Martin Gordon in his i-Pod” quoth All
Music Guide and you can find out about Gordon's humorous
insight into the children of God on this interview.
-
Martin
Gordon (# 2) - This
interview was recorded 23 October 2005. In his second
interview on Outsight Radio Hours, Martin Gordon chats
about his new album, which places God on his lunch break.
In this chat we get into the humor and the wry
intelligence behind it.
- Martin
Gordon (# 1) - This
interview from Boxing Day '04 is with Martin Gordon,
formerly of Sparks, Jet and Radio Stars. Composer/bassist
Martin Gordon discusses The Joy of More Hogwash, his the
second solo CD in 12 months. It features 12 new

evidence of the current pop-cultural malaise.
-
Peter
Gordon, head of
Thirsty Ear, discusses the beginnings and business of that
label including the influential jazz Blue Series headed by
Matthew Shipp, the Pere Ubu reissues and other aspects of
this leading alternative music company.
-
Steve
Gore of the Rascal Reporters - Seeking new music and interviewing
musicians is a constant journey of discovery for me.
Along the way there is the rare and special joy of
discovering a previously unknown gem in my own back
yard, as it were. I was previously oblivious to the
groundbreaking zaniness of The Rascal Reporters,
operating since the '70s local to me. In this interview
I discuss with Steve Gore about the group; would-be
jesters of the RIO movement. This talk includes how
working with Fred Frith, Tim Hodgkinson, and other came
about. Of course we also discuss the release
to CD of Ridin' On A Bummer: Twentieth Anniversary
Edition of "daring Avant-Prog in the tradition of Frank
Zappa, Henry Cow, & The Residents".
-
Traciana Graves - In
this 30 April 2007 interview we meet Traciana
Graves. Born in Harlem, U.S.A. she was largely
raised in France when the career of her model mother
took the family abroad. It is in France where Traciana
became immersed in the arts and music. She taught
herself to become a guitarist, studied at the Sorbonne
and became the first American accepted into the
prestigious National Acting Conservatory in France. This
foundation lead her to become a sought after background
singer for the likes of Celine Dion, Steel Pulse,
Youssou N' Dour, Andrew Lloyd Webber and others. We hear
how this background has affected her album Tales of A
Prodigal Daughter as well as her efforts to inspire
others through lectures, workshops and one-on-one
coaching
sessions with such topics as "Embracing Multiculturalism
And Diversity".
-
David Greenberger -
David Greenberger takes the stories of the elderly and
makes art of them. This includes publication, music
production, and, as in the case of Ernest Noyes
Brookings, giving an opportunity for an artistic career.
In
this 1 October 2006 interview, David tells us how it got
started, how he came to work with 3 Leg Torso,
Birdsongs of the Mesozoic and more.
-
Andrew
Grimm talks about
June Star's album Telegraph (Safe House) and being a
singer-songwriter with a roots rock band.
-
Gris Gris - Greg Ashley
has been a sunny if psychedelic singer on his solo
Medicine Fuck Dream
(Birdman) and leads a bold new quarter The Gris
Gris. This is a rock 'n' roll album looking back to the
golden era of garage. The Gris Gris debut is a self-titled
full-length that came out on Birdman Records August 9th,
2004. Ashley was the live interview guest on Outsight
Radio Hours (www.outsight.mu) Sunday, August 29, 2004.
-
Jason Gross -
co-producer of
the Ellipsis Arts 3-CD compilation OHM: The Gurus of Early
Electronic Music
-
Todd Grubbs -
This 17 June 2007 interview
with Todd Grubbs is just after he worked with
Don
Preston, who guested on his new CD. Todd keeps the Tampa
area alive with driving, sophisticated electric guitar
rock.
-
The
Gunshy -
Matt Arbogast of The Gunshy is a true DIY musician and
in this 19 August 2007 interview we discuss his career
in independent music. We also cover his new album
There’s No Love in this War (Latest Flame). This is a
fascinating album drawn from WWII letters written by the
grandfather Matt never met. This interview also includes
the impact the album had on Matt’s family.
