Pierre-Yves Martel -
I have been a big fan of experimental jazz and
electro-acoustic music coming out of the Montreal area
for years and I was excited to do this 22 April 2007
interview with Pierre-Yves Martel who is active in that
scene. We discuss his use of prepared bass and more in
this engaging chat.

Ken Field
is a saxophonist, flautist,
percussionist, and composer. Since 1988 he has been a member
of the internationally acclaimed electrified modern music
ensemble Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, with whom he has
recorded eight CDs. In this 14 January 2007 interview he
also discusses working with David Greenberger, Oral Moses,
and the group he leads; the Revolutionary Snake Ensemble.
RSE is a New Orleans-inspired improvisational brass band. In
discussing Field's solo work we find the otherworldly sounds
he recorded in Roswell, NM did not have extraterrestrial
inspiration. Ken Field

Shuffle
Demons - Richard Underhill -
The impetus for this
interview (June 6, 2005) with Richard Underhill of The
Shuffle Demons was the release of "Greatest Hits"
(Stubby Records), compiling music by the jazz combo from
1986 to 1993. Richard and myself discuss the cosmic and
comical jazz found on these tracks and more.
