Burton Cummings

Lead singer for the (Canadian band) "The Guess Who" from 1965 to 1975, also enjoyed a solo career afterward (most notable single: "Stand Tall"). Differences between Burton and Randy Bachman led to the split of The Guess Who, with Randy Bachman going on to form BTO (Bachman-Turner Overdrive) less Cummings.
