Q: I like more than
one Program Series. Do I have to join
for a specific (or each) program series?
A: Your Membership provides access to ALL
Member's Options (Programs On-Demand series' on Coolstreams that have
Member's Streams and ALL CoolStreams).

Q: What is a "Volume" and why do you use this way of
organizing programs?
A: We use "Volume" (like a volume of a
magazine series, etc.) as a grouping method for Programs
On-Demand, usually with 5 or more total hours of program segments
together.
We also learned from many
listeners that they prefer these longer playing times so
that they don't have to interrupt working on other things
to start a new Program segment, etc. We have set up
the Volumes so that you can start from a different point
when you prefer to, or start again from a point close to
where you left off when you return to listen.

Q: Do I need high
speed access (like DSL, Cable Modem, T1) in order to
use the Member's Options?
A: You will need a Hi-Bandwidth (greater
than 56k modem) connection (like Cable Modem, DSL, T1,
etc.) to get the most from both our Members and Free Use Options. If you don't have high speed
internet access, you can still get some of our Programs On-Demand
streams at modem rates (LO - 21 kbps) in good sounding
Real Audio Stereo and completely ad-free!

Q: I pledged to my local Public Radio
Station. Does this also make me a member of
Coolstreams to obtain member benefits?
A: We are glad that you support your
local Public Radio station because it is a good thing to
do! But Coolstreams is not related in any way to
any Public radio station or any public radio system, so
no, your support of Public Radio does not enable us to be
here (even if you heard a program there that we also offer
here). Our membership levels are to support our streaming
of our programs. We do not receive grants or any other
kind of funding to do present these programs, so Memberships are the largest percentage of our income.

Coolstreams is a Non-Profit, 501(c)(3) Public Charity, and
your Donations and/or Memberships to us can be tax deductible (less

Q: Is this a Subscription Service?
A: We are NOT a subscription
service, so our free options are not teasers to get you to
sign up for a subscription - in other words, the
majority of our free
options are full length listening options, but may
contain ads and Membership pitches. There is free access to our POD programs and
features on all of our Series. Making our
programming available to a wide audience is an important
part of our mission. We ask for
your voluntary Donations to support all of our
programming! We offer additional
Listening Options to our supporting Members which
includes the same programs in higher audio quality and
without ads or Membership pitches. On a few
options,
Members options may contain some additional content not in
free use options. We also offer,
on some, but not all series, continuous MP3
"Coolstreams" of songs that are played on these series,
and these Coolstreams are usually able to contain more songs that we are able to put into the current POD
Programs at one time. The Coolstreams are currently an extra
Membership Benefit.

General Information about
Coolstreams:
Without Membership support,
Coolstreams will cease to exist, because Membership Support is
our primary means of support! We do NOT currently receive any
kind of funding from Grants or Foundations, however,
Coolstreams is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit
Organization (see
more details here >>>). We do not earn enough
revenue from ads on the site over an entire year to cover
the costs of the streaming and other operating costs for one
month! We keep a small number of NON-INTRUSIVE banner ads
(meaning no obnoxious pop-up ads), plus
affiliate links on the site to help with the costs offering
our Free Use listening options.Everyone
who supports us at any level or by any method really wins
because it keeps our programming available without
commercial influence. We also know
some folks can afford to support us more than others, so we
have developed extra services and premiums to encourage your
generosity!
